cant' t reduce vg00

Hello
I have a vg00 with a disk failure
I have reduced a logical volume but a can't reduce with vgreduce -f vg00.
If I rename the lvmtab in lvmtab.save ad pergorm a vgscan -a the new lvmtab lost a vg00
what it becomes /dev/ and not /dev/vg00
Can help me

Hi,

It's not a good idea to run vgscan in this situation as the disk is missing. Restore your saved lvmtab.

If this is a mirror disk, you will need to follow proper procedure to restore the mirror. There have been numerous threads on restoring the mirror disk. Search the forums.

If this is a data disk and|or if you have root logical volumes such as /usr, /var, /opt etc without a mirror, then you may have to use your latest ignite tape|image to restore the OS.

I' have resolved with:
vgcfrestore on a mirror disk
vgchange -a y /vg
vgsyng /vg
mkboot -l /dev/rdsk/
mkboot -a "hpux -lq
;0)/stand/vmunix" /dev/rdsk/
lvlnboot -R
lvlnboot -v

But why the vgreduce -f /dev doesn't work to eliminate the failure disk ???
