comments in HPGL files.

Hi there forum members.
How can comments be put in an "HPGL" or "HPGL/2" file?

These files end up in a Document Management system and need to have comments put into these files for Identification purposes.

Also I need to put in comments regarding the paper size of the plot.
Is this possible?

thanks MND

Re: comments in HPGL files.

Hi Marc,

I just use the letters co, as though they were hpgl instructions, followed by my comment and terminated with the semicolon. It works with my LaserJetIIIp.

example:
PA 100, 100;
co justify right center with space;
LO18;

take care,

Re: comments in HPGL files.

Oops, sorry everyone. The "co" trick does not work after all. If the comment has an hpgl code in it -- like the letters IN for example -- the plotter seems to recognize and act on it. I guess I've been lucky with this trick until now. Sorry if I've generated any false hope.
