creating raw device files
I have to create two raw device files under the volume group /dev/vgora
that is /dev/vgora/raw1
/dev/vgora/raw2
/dev/vgora/raw2 space is already in /dev/vgora
volume group.
volume group status is available shared server
on one node(eg:hp_a)
volume group status is avaialable shared client
on the second node(hP_b)
my first server name is hp_a and second one is hp_b
4 packages are running 2 packages in hp_a(nfs1, orapkg2) and two pacakges in hp_b(nfs2, orapkg2) i am using oracle 9i and hp-ux 11i
what are the steps I have to follow two create
two raw device files on both noded what I mentioned above.
I mean
database shutdown
service guard shutdown etc...

Re: creating raw device files
I'm really not sure if I understand your question, but if you create a LVOL in your VG vgora (let's say it is called "raw2") you will get a "raw" device called "rraw2".
see
man lvcreate
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: creating raw device files
and I would label that as a raw logical volume vs a raw device with no LVM contructs like /dev/[r]dsk/cxdxtx
