oracle BD 9.i async and sync modes
I have one oracle bd in 9.i with raw devices and async mode. I have another one bd 9.i in the same machine with FS and sync mode. This last sample errors in oracle log files. In the init.ora it does not seem formable.
What I can do so that these messages disappear?

Re: oracle BD 9.i async and sync modes
looking for that way I have seen that the option disk_asynch_io = FALSE applies 9.i. It seems to be async by defect. I will prove this.

Re: oracle BD 9.i async and sync modes
asynch i/o is supposed to be faster.
I've been running a different database ayncyh raw for nearly ten years now.
Oracle insisted they could match that performance with asynch on filesystems. With Oracle 9i release 2, they changed their tune.
You are probably better off with asynch on raw disk according to an oracle lecture I attended at HP World in September of 2002 and other contacts I've made with them via metalink.oracle.com

Re: oracle BD 9.i async and sync modes
This last sample errors in oracle log files...
If you can paste the exact error log, maybe we have a guess.
There are many possible errors, from /dev/async not existing, to the lack of MLOCK privilege to the dba group.
