oracle forms and reports

Hi all,

I installed oracle 8.1.7 personal edition in my PC ( window 2000) using CDs.

I would like to install oracle forms and reports to practicle my SQL skill, could you tell me what version is matching oracle db 8.1.7 and where I can get a free download?

Hi,

Why you don´t just install 9i or 10g.
8i is a version about to be de-suported.
In otn.oracle.com you can download Designer (formerly Forms and Reports) 9i and 10g.
In your case, you can download Designer 6i, version that can be used with 8i.
In order to download, you will create a password, don´t worry, it´s free.

hi,

you may wish to download the iDS release 2 which also includes oracle 9i Forms. This is available at:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ids/index.html


however, bear in mind that you will require lots of memory to run both the database and the iDS on the same pc.

If i was a starter and had little memory avaiable, i would prefer to install forms and report 6i. This is available from: http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/forms/6i_rel2_xp.zip

Thanks for the reply.

In terms of version, I had the CD sets ( purchased from oracle for $40) four years ago. Just want to use it and I have an old PC too.

I recall I have the designer CD and let me recheck tomorrow.

Since my PC is window 2000, so CD forms and reports 6i for NT/windown 98 would not work, right? I tried, it would not install.

hi jane,

Forms and reports 6i for NT/win98 will work provided you install it first then the database. We have it here.

I suspect a conflict in the versions of the installer that is causing the old version to fail.

Thanks, I will need to completely removed oracle 8i from my PC, try install forms and reports 6i and then oracle rdbms 8i.
