Also, are you using the same SCSI channel for all of the volumes? i.e. you could have a mismatch between the controller types from the server to the EMC on the channel that you're using for the U01 or u01temp volume. That could causing the bus speed to decrease dramatically (it would drop to the speed of the slowest controller).
