orapw-file

Hi @ll

the standard path of the orapw file is $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/
but i will define an other path eg. /oracle/admin/ or so.

i've already searched in the internet and i found, that the systemvariable $ORA_PWFILE or/and $ORA_SID_PWFILE define the path of the orapw-file, but this works only on a windows machine and i use hpux and oracle 9.2.

is there a chance to define the path of the orapw-file?

thanx

Regards,
Baumann

Re: orapw-file

Shalom Baumann,

I'd check the following places:
init.ora
tnsnames.ora (doubtful)

If you can't change its location then its my believe you are pretty much out of luck locationwise.

Why don't you try definning that shell variable in the oracle environment that is used by users and the startupscripts. That might work.

Re: orapw-file

That is the expected location, just like it is for the init.ora file.
You could try a symbolic link to your /oracle/admin location.

Thanx, i've made a symbolic link, that works fine.
