"tar" for large files?

We run HP-UX 11.0. "tar" won't work on files bigger than 2 GB. At another job we had a gnu utility which was called, I think "gtar". Where do I get that?
I think that pax will do this, but I don't know how to use pax.

Re: "tar" for large files?

GNU tar is what Veritas Netbackup uses.

Here are a couple of links:

Re: "tar" for large files?

hi,

The GNUtar is best solution if, you don't have any back up solution and you wanna backup more than 2G files.

Perfect!! you got the Gnutar from above mentioned sites. great!
Easy going at all.
