I have an rp7410 split into two physical machines (one runs hpux11.11 and the other hpux 11.23
I need to pull out the machine identification number or the Software ID (I need this number in order to produce a Sybase license for this server).
However, when I run uname –i , I get the hostname instead of the number.
Also, print_manfest produce an empty clomun for Software ID
Also, in SAM when I go to system properties the machine identification is empty.
How can I get this number or generate it?
thanks ,
A.K.

Re: unable to get machine identification
you are talking about host id i think. There is no host-id in hp-ux. in some documention it was written that it can be got by uname -i or
lanscan | grep 0x | cut -c12-23.

Re: unable to get machine identification
getconf MACHINE_IDENT
print_manifest
uname -i
all these commands does not return the machine identification.

A.K.

Re: unable to get machine identification
Open a case with HP to reset your machine ID. The tools to do so are not available to customers. HP engineer can set this value, using the 'ssconfig' tool.
