usermods
Hi
I have a couple of questions regarding users
1. I have a NIS environment where we have various home areas set depending on what role the users have. I need to ammend a users home directory which I have attempted on the NIS master with
usermod -m -d /prod1/
The issue I have is with /prod1 is an NFS mount point from an NFS server. I am however unable to write to the /prod1 dir on the NIS server.
There are loads of id's that reside in /prod1 so I must be missing something
I have checked on the NFS server and can see that the exported mount point doesn't share the dir allowing write access
Any ideas ?
2. Same NIS environment, I have been asked to ammend a couple of existing users so that there accounts expire, min max and warning times for there passwords. The system is however not trusted.
How can I do this
Thanks

Re: usermods
For number one, from the NIS client (* which I guess is the NFS server *) run :
/usr/bin/ypwhich
/usr/bin/ypwhich -m passwd
domainname
/usr/bin/ypmatch username passwd
/usr/contrib/bin/nsquery hosts hostname
/usr/bin/ypwhich -m hosts
/usr/bin/ypmatch hostname hosts
Also, can you attach this information?
cat /etc/fstab (* client *)
cat /etc/exports (* server *)
cat /etc/nsswitch.conf (* both *)
And attach any errors.
############################################
For number 2, I believe you have to go to NIS+ but refer to the passwd command below. :
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/B9106-90007/B9106-90007_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/B9106-90007/00/02/253-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/B9106-90007/00/02/253-toc.html&searchterms=nis%7cexpire%7caccount%7cpasswd&queryid=20030807-190901
