utilising two CPUs effectively

Hi,

I have a D250 Server with two CPUs, running Ingres. It is felt that the job switching between the CPUs is not so okay. While analysing, it was observed that one CPU is more busy than the other one (Did the monitoring with 1 sec interval). Tried with disabling one CPU and I am still sticking with the same perception.

Please let me know your comments, as it will reduce the amount of confusion.

You should need the patches from Ingres. I'v seen this problem happened in Oralce and Informix database. The patches from the database provider is very necessary.

Best Regards.

You might want to review your networking patches too. Some older networking code, forces things to cpu 0. So, does some 3rd party streams code.

Indeed, HP has some patches for this situation.
The possible we did, the unpossible we're doing but for a miracle you have to wait some time.

Hi Dieter Degrendele,

Could you please specifically tell me more about the related patches from HP. We have loaded all relevant patches from Ingres.

Thanks,

Anu
