How Propel helps IT Ops deliver the New Style of IT

In 2013, HP invested a lot of time into listening to its customers. In yesterday’s “Transforming your IT Organization and Creating Business Value” webinar, Executive VP of Software George Kadifa explains that he and his team met with thousands of customers and hundreds of partners last year, to learn of their needs, challenges and opportunities. He summarizes their feedback in three key points:

  1. You want HP to be your partner with a scale to support you whenever and wherever you are.
  2. You want HP to be the source of innovation to advance your business.
  3. You want HP to provide you with immediate business value.

The webinar serves as an update on HP’s progress toward those goals, and examines the breadth and depth of HP’s software portfolio and how it enables what CEO and President Meg Whitman calls the “New Style of IT.”

singh.jpgAjay Singh, senior vice president IT Operations Management, highlights innovations that were recently showcased at HP Discover in Barcelona, including HP Propel, Cloud Service Automation 4.0, IT Operations Analytics and Service Anywhere 3.0. “I’m really excited about HP Propel,” Singh says, as it “enables end-user choice without compromise.” He describes Propel as “the for IT and business services.” The first ITSM framework of its kind, HP Propel helps transform IT into a true service broker. “It gives you the ability to … choose your delivery platform without any compromise in functionality,” he explains. Propel delivers fully integrated services through a single, consumer-friendly state-of-the-art GUI that reaches across various mobile platforms, without the need to change back-end systems or processes. “Not only does it allow you to consolidate your catalogs, but at the back-end, gives you a … truly open service exchange. Not only can you plug in HP products, but you can also plug in third-party products.” Simply put, Propel is geared toward today’s heterogeneous IT environments, providing “one common catalog, one common user interface and one common user experience to your customers in a true service-broker format.”

In addition HP Propel, this executive-level discussion also covers HP advancements including:

  • Application delivery management
  • Vertica
  • HAVEn
  • Autonomy
  • Enterprise Security
  • Backup and recovery
