514072MB limit to logical drive

I just reloaded a DL380 G3 with Server 2003 that has a Smart Array 3200 in it, firmware up to date. When i go to make an array, with a logical drive RAID5'd, it limits me to 514072MB, when really the total available space is over 800GB. am i limited by ACU or by the smart array 3200 controller?

Hi Rich,
The SA Controllers can have Volumes uptill 2TB.
Could you upload an ADU report for a clearer picture please?

Re: 514072MB limit to logical drive

How many disks are you using and what is their capacity?

(for 146GB drives, the actual capacity is 134GB, 6x134=804GB. If you used 1 disk as a hot spare and 1 disk in raid5 parity you end up with 4x134=536GB. Is this the case?)

Re: 514072MB limit to logical drive

Hi Rich,
This HP CA Document has some info on this issue:

Seems like to get to a >502GB volume, create the volume and then expand it up and until 2TB.

Re: 514072MB limit to logical drive

I didn't get that error message shown in the link. I think what may have happened was what TTr said, about how the drives really aren't as big as labeled? I just loaded the server making drives as large as it would let me. While not what i really wanted, I can make it work.
