AUTO RAID

I have a HP Auto Raid and found the following error repeated many times in the error log:

Event code = 22
Event code description = Recovered By Disk Drive
Event count = 1
FRU number = 6
FRU description = Disk in slot A4
Slot number = A4
Sense key = 0x1
Additional Sense code = 0x15
Additional Sense code qualifier = 0x1
LBA = 31941664

What does this mean and can it have an impact on performance?

Re: AUTO RAID

Information from: http://www.hp.com/cposupport/manual_set/lpg28364.pdf

Event Code =22
Data was recovered by the disk drive using its own internal recovery process. The additional sense information provided by the disk drive should provide more information on the nature of the problem.

I haven't been able to find anything else on that error. If you do an arraydsp -a on the array does anything show as being wrong? Have you looked at the array? Does the disk drive in slot A4 have a solid amber light?

Re: AUTO RAID

Hi,

if the messages refer all to the same disk (Slot A4) you have to contact HP support.
Possibly the disk is bad and you have to replace the disk.

Re: AUTO RAID

The AutoRAID adds some parrity calculations when doing raid 5 on the disk level itself.. then does tradition R5 based on that. It's not so serious, however if you see much more, you should start getting worried.
If you send me the output of
/opt/hparray/bin/logprint -s startdate
man the command for full syntax
= arraydsp -i serial number

I can interpret these logs with an application called ARLT, the AutoRAID log tool.
The HP internals should have this too.
From this app you'll find out if there is repeated errors and scsi parity errors on hte disk itself.. in a repeated fashion.

Send us the log... and make a backup in the meantime.

It works for me (tm)
