Adding HDD to a RAID5 and Smart Array 431 on NT4
I want to add 2 HDD to a ML370 server equiped with a Smart array controller 431.
This server has already a RAID 5 created on the 431 controller.
I know That I can just plug this disk and then having these disks striped in the RAID 5.
But is it possible to add these disks to an existing partition without breaking it ??

Re: Adding HDD to a RAID5 and Smart Array 431 on NT4
Inherently no. The new drive appears to the OS as free space and must be formatted.
What you want is partition expansion. With RAID 5 this may or may not be possible. Some have had luck some not in under RAID, with products from PowerQuest for NT and 2000 Server. ServerMagic and VolumeManager
