Adding disk to MSA 1000

Hi all.
I have a MSA 1000 with 6 disks of 145 Gb raid5.
There are several empty slots to insert new disks.
Now I want to insert 4 new disks and create a new raid5.
Can I insert the new disks online ? Hot plug ?

Thanks in advance.

Juanma.

Re: Adding disk to MSA 1000

Yes you can. When a hot-pluggable drive is inserted, all disk activity on the array is paused while the new drive is spinning up (usually 10 seconds or so).

Wait at least one minute before inserting the next disk.

Furthermore, you can then configure the new array and create logical drives and present them to your server all while online (at least with a Windows Box you can).

Re: Adding disk to MSA 1000

Thanks.
Now I have to create the raid5 and give the new LUN to my HP-UX Server.
If I find any other wall, I will ask again with a new post.

Thanks a lot.
