Additing new enclosure online with EVA 4400 FW 900400

we have EVA 4400 with FW 09004000, and we need to add additional two enclosure M6412A online as we run out of space.
is it safe to add it online with this FW version as we cannot upgrade the FW in this stage and the EVA is production EVA.

please advice with the most secure upgrade.

Re: Additing new enclosure online with EVA 4400 FW 900400

I would first update to this firmware before changing anything:

Hope this helps!

Re: Additing new enclosure online with EVA 4400 FW 900400

Thanks Torsten,
I realise we are on an unsupported firmware version but we have had no major problems with 09004000, we are planing to go for the altest but not in this stage as the EVA in production.
- Do you think we will face a problem during online upgrade? or we can carry on.

I agree with Torsten

Upgrade the FW, and then install the new shelfs.

You have to plan down time, for this upgrade.
So plan an ekstra 30 minutes to add the new shelfs.

With FW 095xxxxx. the I/O modules wil be upgraded to FW ver. 73
Due to problem with the old I/O FW, I/O modules don't restart correctly, so the EVA must be power cycled 30 minutes after the FW upgrade (As per. instructions).

This is how I would do it:
Upgrade FW, following instructions.
After power cylce - Add the shelfs.
Check if I/O module FW is syncronized.
- If I/O FW is syncronized.
- Check if it need another power cycle.
Then upgrade the disks.

The choise is:
1. Planned down time - all safe.
2. Risk unplanned downtime in high production time.
