Allocating space to a LUN

Hello,

I have added a new disk to the disk array and the disk array can see the disk but it is down as unallocated space on the disk array info screen in SAM.
Could anybody please tell me how to allocate this space to an existing LUN.
I have searched the Docs etc but I cannot work it out, any help would be great.

Regards

Andrew

Re: Allocating space to a LUN

Hi andrew,
You cannot increase or even decrease the size of a lun. remember that pvra lvm information stamps disk size on the disk, so you'd need to do a pvcreate if your array could increase the size of the lun.

You can create a new lun and extend your vg.. but if this is unacceptable you'll have to recreate the lun.

Later,
Bill
It works for me (tm)

Re: Allocating space to a LUN

Bill is correct, You cannot increase or decrease the size of an existing LUN. If you MUST make the LUN larger the only possiblity is to back up the data, remove the existing LUN, create a replacement LUN (of the desired new size) and then reload the data.
Plan for the future and tomorrow will take care of itself.
