Array Compatability

I have a RP7410 with a VA7410 attached on 4 hbas. I want to add a EVA to this system on 4 more hbas. I will then migrate off of the VA. Is there any compatability issues in doing this.

Re: Array Compatability

Hi Scott,

It is beter to add two 8 port san switches to your environment. I even think an eva is not supported without SAN switches.

You need also a fiber/san connection to your management appliance for configuring your eva.

It is beter to invest your money in SAN switches then in fiber cards.

An eva and va are supported on the same fabric is you create zones on your switch

So you are saying if understand you right that a EVA requires a san switch? We will still need fiber hbas to connect to the san switch such as a brocade.

Re: Array Compatability

Scott,

You can use your current HBA, connected to you VA, to connect to your SAN switch.

Then you need to connect the VA and EVA to your san switch. This is supported is you create zones on your SAN switch

Re: Array Compatability

I do not want to move the va to the san switch. We do not want to incurr any downtime. So we would need 4 more hbas.
