Re: Array expansion still running after 36 hours

Seems pretty fair... depending on other conditions as HDD capacity, Raid type... etc.

Refer :

Pretty decent one !

hope this helps !
Cheers

Re: Array expansion still running after 36 hours

Hi Rob,

Take a look at this old thread:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1020002

What is the expansion priority set to on the 5300 controller ?

If it's set to the default of low, then the controller must be idle for 30 seconds to do the expansion...

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Rob

Re: Array expansion still running after 36 hours

Hi again,

This document also looks pretty useful:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/UCR/SupportManual/TPM_tc021003tb_rev1_us/TPM_tc021003tb_rev1_us.pdf

On page 3 it states: "The amount of time it takes to perform an online capacity expansion depends on several parameters: drive speed, the server microprocessor speed, the amount of other I/O work the server is doing, and the priority level of the capacity expansion. This priority level can be changed from low (the default in ACU) to medium or high to expand the volumes as quickly as possible. Depending on these factors, the expansion process takes somewhere between 10 â 15 minutes per GB."

By my calculations that would be 171 hours for your 683GB drive.

Cheers,

Rob
