Boot linux from EVA5000

Is it possible to boot Linux (Suse) from an EVA5000 ? What HBA card(s) are supported ? Thanks.

Re: Boot linux from EVA5000

It is possible with certain adapters and Linux versions. Can you give a bit more details to limit the number of possibilities?

Re: Boot linux from EVA5000

I'm not sure what info you need but here are some more details.
We are looking to use Suse (SLES 9 or 10) on a dual opteron system. We want the server to be diskless relying on the EVA5000 for all it's storage including boot disk. We have 2GB gbics in the switch on the EVA. If there is any other specific detail I can provide, please let me know. Thank you for your help.

Re: Boot linux from EVA5000

I haven't seen any SLES 10 support, yet. I have checked for VCS 3.028 and 4.004 firmware and x386 and 64-bit support:

- adapters with boot support:
FCA2214, FCA2214DC (QLogic Failover driver)

FC2142SR / FC2242SR, FC2143 / FC2243 (single path only!)

- adapters WITHOUT boot support:
FC1143, FC1142SR, FC1243, FC1242SR (QLogic Failover driver)

Re: Boot linux from EVA5000

Thanks for the suggestions, I will check them out. When you mention you have not seen any Suse 10 support yet, can I assume that there is Suse 9 support ?

Thanks again for the help.

Re: Boot linux from EVA5000

Sorry, yes, there is support for "SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9" (SLES9), but not SuSe Linux Professional 9 (for desktops).
