Can HW RAID5 be changed without data loss?

We have a new linux server running a Progress database under RH ES 3.0. We have 4 drives attached to an embedded PERC4e/Di coinfigured with RAID5.

We are having performance issues and our DB vendor is now telling us RAID5 may be the culprit. I'm still waiting to hear feedback from them on what other disk configuration they recommend, but I wanted to prepare myself for what is in store to change it.

Can h/w RAID options be changed without data loss?

I have never migrated down from lets say 1 to 0 or 5 to 1, but the option might be available in the ACU. Keep in mind that if your stored data is more then half your total available storage, you will not be able to since there would not be enough space to hold that data.

You would have to backup, clear the array, config the new and restore.
If you think about the logistics, trying to go from 5 drives in a raid5 to use 2 of them as a raid 1 how it would be done or even possible.
