Can i using 146.8GB to replace 72.8GB in Smart Array Cluster?

hello,
I have one SMART ARRAY CLUSTER and seven piece of ULTRA320 72.8GB harddisk in it.And have configed ARRAY "A" only.

Now i want to using 146.8GB to replace 72.8GB under online status one by one.

Can i UNPLUG a online status harddisk directly from Smart Array Cluster?

can someone give me advice? thanks in advance!

As long as the drives are Hot Plug, you should not have a problem swapping one at a time. Make sure you let each one rebuild.

Do you have a hot spare? if so, I would swap that one first or maybe even disable it so that it does not get utilized.

Are these the Cl380 package? or similar?

The Smart Array controller behind the cluster should operate just like a regular Smart Array in the sense that you can hot plug and upgrade drives on the fly. I have not done this first hand with a SMCluster device, so I could be mistaken.

Either way, make sure you always have a good backup before performing any expansion.

Thanks very much Steven.

I think your method is right. But can you give me HP document about similar operations?
Because DATA is very important.
