Cannot add Capacity to NetRaid 3si RAID5 array
I am trying to add 2 more 36GB disks to an existing Netraid 3si RAID5 array of 10 36GB disks. When I select Change config -> Add capacity I just get an error message:
"The logical drive cannot be reconstructed"
Can anyone tell me why ?
cheers

Re: Cannot add Capacity to NetRaid 3si RAID5 array
Straight from the NetRAID Users Guide:
http://www.e4services.com/files/NetRAID_Series_User_Guide.pdf
"Reconstruction can be done only on arrays containing just one logical drive each. HP NetRAID cannot reconstruct an array using array spanning or arrays containing multiple logical drives."
"You cannot use Online Capacity Expansion with an array that contains more than one logical drive. The logical drive being expanded must be the only logical drive in the array."
"Online Capacity Expansion is supported only for the NetWare 4.2, NetWare 5, Windows NT, and Windows 2000 operating systems. (You cannot use Online Capacity Expansion with IBM OS/2, SCO OpenServer, or SCO UnixWare.)"
The user guide contains separate sections covering capacity expansion under
NetWare 4.2, NetWare 5, Windows NT, and Windows 2000. Each of these sections discusses online and offline capacity expansion.
