Changing 3100ES to 4250ES and making them redundant
I currently have 3100ES controllers and want to put in 4250ES' and make them redundant. Is there a documented procedure for upgrading from 3100es to 4250es???
Does the 4250ES recognize the RAID information that the 3100ES has written to the disk???
Has anyone tried this???

Re: Changing 3100ES to 4250ES and making them redundant
Hello,
As long as you have a PL6000 or PL7000 Xeon model this should be no problem. Your server has has 2 slots available for the 'ES array controllers. As soon as you add the 2nd one, they are redundant.
The 4250ES controller is only supported in the Xeon models. If you have a PPro server, this wouldn't work.
You can download the manual for the 4250ES at http://www.compaq.com/support/techpubs/user_reference_guides/388778-002.html.
Have a nice day,
Mike
