Clarion 9137 code upgrade

equipment: HP 9000 K460
software: HP_UX 10.20
DASD: Clarion 9137 with 2 SP'S 128mb memory
While trying to upgrade firmware from 9.56.03 to 9.56.20. the disk does not respond. It appears that when communications are being initiated between the server and disk, the disk gets a microcode panic and reboots. The server operation times out waiting for the disk to respond.Down level code 9.56.03 still works. From SP A, here is the unsolicited error:

09/16/00 00:59:48 SP A 0x907 (Microcode Panic 0x00800063) 0x00000003
Has any one seen this??

Re: Clarion 9137 code upgrade

Based on my experience,

Latest LVM and SCSI patches should be applied and all dependencies should be resolved before upgrading FIRMWARE.
It works.

After installing a bunch of patches, give it a try again.

Re: Clarion 9137 code upgrade

Just to make sure that I have this right and all information is posted . I will be trying the 9137 code upgrade onnce again, the server is booting off from the 9137.
Steps I will take.
Stop all I/O activity.
Unmount file systems ?
unmount LVM ?
take server to single user?
Halt server?

Re: Clarion 9137 code upgrade

Stop IO activity and umount file systems and logical volumes mapped to the disk array.

The minimum patches to be installed are PHKL_16751 and PHKL_18391.

Good Luck!
