Command View 7.0 generate strange mibs for EVA

Command View 7.0 generate strange mibs for EVA

-- This MIB built using parse file: Hewlett-Packard\Sanworks\Element Manager for StorageWorks HSV\events\HSV110_event_SR0025_3110.txt 071011

In comments section we find description about how sCellEventTrap numbers calculating

-- The Trap number is calculated by using the complete number space
-- of the Software Component & Event numbers. There are a possible
-- 256 s/w components, each with a possible 256 events giving an
-- address space of 65536 events. To ensure that trap numbers do not
-- change when additional SC Events are defined the following formula
-- is used: Base + (SWCID * 256) + Event Number
-- The large base was used to avoid collisions with the management trap
-- numbers who share the same address space of 0-65536
-- In our example above: sCellEventTrap-9-66 the trap number is -
-- Base = 13600000 (which preserves our unique OID sub-identifier of 136) +
-- ( 9 * 256 ) + 102 (66hex) = 13602406

But when i find sCellEventTrap-9-66 defenition itself it do not match:

sCellEventTrap-9-66 TRAP-TYPE -- CAC Code: 0
ENTERPRISE compaq
VARIABLES { scellNameDateTime,
...skipped...
::= 13602370

Other traps mismatch too.

I think over this HP SIM often shows incorrect event description.

Did someone encounter with this issue? How could i fix this?

I think this is a reason to open support call in HP.

Re: Command View 7.0 generate strange mibs for EVA

I received reply from HP support. This is a known problem to them. There are 2 options:

1) request special patch from HP support (only this bug fixed);
2) upgrade to CV 8.0.1 (numerous bug fixes and interface cosmetic changes);

In case of option 2 - licenses are the same for CV7 and CV8. Don't worry about that. To test - install CV8 on other host, then take over control from CV7. Storage licensing is bound to storage system, so you will see all your licenses on CV8

Instructions for SSP attached. Please, check if it's applicable to your version of CV, and request one from HP support. On my testing environment all gone well.
