Storage Boards Cleanup
To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

Command View EVA - from v3.1 to v4.0

Can someone explain which steps I should take to upgrade from Command View EVA v3.1 to v4.0?
(VCS 3.010 is in use here on our EVA 5000.)

Re: Command View EVA - from v3.1 to v4.0

There are upgrade kits to CV-EVA V3.3.x and V4.0.1 available, but you cannot use any of them to upgrade from CV-EVA 3.1. You can upgrade from 3.2/3.3 to 3.3.x and from 3.3 to 4.0.1.

I have never had a chance to try an upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0 (full kit).
What should work is 3.1 -> 3.3 (full kit) -> 4.0 (full kit) or 4.0.1 (upgrade).

Thanks Uwe.
Which software do I need? It seems to me that v3.3 is part of "Storage Operations Manager 1.x" where v4.0 is available as a seperate product...

Re: Command View EVA - from v3.1 to v4.0

Chris,
you could try an upgrade from 3.1 to 4.0, but I wouldn't attempt that with a good backup of the SMA. The oldest VCS release supported by CV-EVA 4.0 is VCS V3.014 (most likely because 3.010 is not longer supported).

What I would do is:
- CV-EVA 3.1 to 3.3
- have HP upgrade VCS in the EVA
-- I guess that's the reason why you want to upgrade?
- CV-EVA 3.3 to 4.0.1

You also need to upgrade Storage Node Manager to 3.2 if you intend to keep it.
