Command View EVA host properties operating system type change
What is the meaning of the operating system type on a host defined in CV EVA? Does it say something about the characteristics of that host? can you explain that? What will happen if it's set wrong, for ex. it's set to solaris and it should a HP-UX host? What will happen to the host connection if you change taht parameter online?

Re: Command View EVA host properties operating system type change
Hi Berend,
set this value wrong for a hp-ux host will result in multiple wrong device files because of the way the host will handle them.
Changing them will cause the old device files to be invalid and create new device files, after this you will have a serious problem with your hosts and LVM configurations.
Better to double check all the settings ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Hi,
selecting the wrong host mode can e.g. affect the way the host/array reacts, connection problems or can affect recovery processes when a controller fails...

the pain is one part of the reality
