Storage Boards Cleanup
To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

Configuring a Proliant 5500 server

I just picked up a 5500 and wanted to know the best way to set up the smart 3200 array controller. I would like to keep the OS separate from the databases and have redundancy if either crashes..

It depens on how many disks you have.

If you have at least 4, I would suggest 2 arrays of 2 disks each. RAID1 for your OS and RAID1 for your databases.

If you have more than 4, lets say 6...

Array A=2 disks with RAID1 Logical Drive (all space for OS).

Array B=3 disks with RAID5 Logical Drive (or 2 logical drives).

6th drive would be global hot spare for both arrays.

So, how many disks do you have?

What OS are you planning on using?
