Continous Access Problem

Hi,

When trying to create a pairing in CA (async)we get the message...

"The specified expanded volume in the RCU is not defined".

Our P-Vol is a 12 way LUSE but the S-Vol is just a large device created from space.

Does the S-Vol have to match the P-Vol in every way? They are the same size but the S-vol is R5 and the P-Vol is Raid1...The S-Vol is single device but the P-Vol is Open-V*12...

Thanks in advance

Hi,
http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01210043/c01210043.pdf
page 40 answers your question:
"LUSE PVOL must be paired with an S-VOL of the same size and structure ...

Re: Continous Access Problem

Helpful document.
I had anticipated this and built Open-V*12 to match the p-vol. I still get the error message... Could it be that the status of the s-vol is Normal (Quick Format). Does the status have to be Normal before the pair can be created?

Re: Continous Access Problem

you should check also the CU conditions on page 60 of the above document

Same LU Type.... Does it matter that pvol is Raid1 and svol is raid 5? They are both OpenV*12....

Re: Continous Access Problem

the only condition for LUSE replication is that all PVOL/SVOL LUSE LDEVs must
match in size and order (both LUSE in the pair(. CA does not care on the disk attributes and RAID type.

Re: Continous Access Problem

check if all the LUSE LDEVs are correctly formated and reformat the one which is not.
(Also the GID/LUN/CU must be appropriate)

Schoolboy error....I was using the CU in the pair definition where I should hae been using the GID... Thanks for the help.
