D3700 with H241 Smart Hostbusadapter - Which mode?

Hello, We want to connect an existing H241 Smart Host Bus Adapter to a new D3700 with SFF hard drives. A library MSL 2024 is already connected to the H241. The H241 is now running in HBA mode. Can the D3700 be connected with a cable to the second port in the HBA mode? I am aware that then the redundancy of the controller is not ensured.

Is HBA mode (host bus or RAID) critical in this single-domain configuration?

Yes, it's critical, becouse you use tape library on the first port.

So I can not connect the D3700 but because the HBA should run in the RAID mode?

You have 2-ports adapter, it can operate at a time (both ports) in RAID or HBA mode.

You can connect D3700 in HBA mode (it'll be JBOD configuration) or in RAID mode (it'll be look like usual RAID controller). But you can connect MSL Tape to adapter the only HBA Mode. So if you need to connect simultaneously both devices to H241 you have the only one option - HBA Mode
