Delete a LUN

Hi friends,

We need to delete a 20 GB LUN on our SAN box but we are not sure on which server it is mounted. How can we mount a LUN on a server if we dont know which volume group it belonged. We just want to see what data it contains so that it can safely be deleted.

Request help.

Re: Delete a LUN

What is the storage model that you are using? Normally, the disks are "presented" to a host, so, checking the presentations for a lun you may know on which host is mounted. You can also check the disks WWID/UNIT ID in the storage and the host operating system.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: Delete a LUN

Hi,
Which is your storage?. Check in your LUN Management software for which host this perticular LUN is allocated or presented to.( like command view XP for XP storages)

Re: Delete a LUN

Hi ivan & sunil & friends,

The SAN box is VA7110. We are not sure what date is there in that LUN and if it is actually mounted anywhere.
Require to help to figure out just that.

Re: Delete a LUN

Check its WWID/UNIT ID on presentation tab of your software. This is is equal with Cxtxdx on your server
EG: ID=3 it must be cxtxd3

Re: Delete a LUN

Hi ,

We use cvui and http://backupserver:4096/launcher.html for SAn administration. We dont have a presentation tab there. Also there is no WWN Id ,as all luns are visible to all servers.

Give us some more tips.
