Disk Array on HP9000 Running 11.x
I am having issue on my HPUX server running 11.x. I have installed the server with a fresh install of 11.x. The system works great up until I try to connect the external HP Disk Array to the SCSI port.
When I boot the server and do a search for the attached disks, the Disk Array does appear as 10/8.0 and 10/8.0.1.

I am connecting in to the Array via the console port and I am showing that both A and B sides of the Array are at the ├в ENA├в state. Both sides of the Array have 4 disks that are good and running Raid 5. When I take the SCSI cable off of the server, the server boots up

2. Have you tried replacing the SCSI cable?

Re: Disk Array on HP9000 Running 11.x
I hafve nto replaced the SCSI cable yet. But I have replaced the SCSI card and now it is not seeing the Array Drives. When I do a arraydsp -i I get the following
# arraydsp -i
The ARMServer did not respond. It may not be running or it may still be
in the process of initializing.

Re: Disk Array on HP9000 Running 11.x
Also, this card's SCSI address is set with dipswitches on the card. make sure it is the same setting as the original card in there.

Re: Disk Array on HP9000 Running 11.x
from what you say I assume this is a Nike Model 10 (10 disk slots, 2 controllers: A and B)
without the array connected, check that your initiator is claimed as 10/8.7.0
then check the dip switches at the rear bottom of the Nike and make sure that neither controller A nor B are set to 7.
The one you connected had ID 0 so also make sure, the other one has some different ID and then connect the array to this other controller. (If you open the rear of the array you should see a green LED on each controller)
Under all circumstances check cables for bent or broken pins. Put a terminator on the other port of the array controller to which you connect (A or B).
If this does not help, I'd suspect the card (do you have another/replacement SCSI card?)
Regards,
Bernhard
