Disk Compaitability

Hi -
I have a Model 20 Array chasis, in which I have 3 raid setup for 5 4GB disk each - This consumes 15 slots and 5 slots are available in chasis.

Would I be able to add 5 x 8GB disks in the available slots to make seperate raid.

Thanks,
-Hitesh

Re: Disk Compaitability

Yes, I believe you should be able to do that without any problems.

Re: Disk Compaitability

There is no problem with that. We have arrays with different sized stripes here in our environment. Just bind them and go.

Hope it helps

Re: Disk Compaitability

Will I be losing the space. ie. Will it recognize 8GB or 4GB???

Re: Disk Compaitability

Hitesh,
from the manual "All disk modules in a group must be of the same type and same capacity to use the modules??? storage space fully". And I remember there was a recommendation even bind disks with same model number and firmware: i.e. IBM disks with IBM disks, Seagate disks with Seagate disks, not mix then across LUNs. So if you'll add more disks of the same type (vendor and firmware) it will be the best if you'll simpy bind them in new LUN(s), not touching old disks and LUNs
