Disk failure on raid 5 array

If a disk in a raid 5 array fails , does it log any error in syslog file , If yes what is device name it mentions as i belive system recoginises lun's but not the individual disks.

Ex. a raid 5 lun with 9 disks in a model 30fc array.

Re: Disk failure on raid 5 array

The OS will not log anything in syslog but the disk array should log the disk failure with the indication the disk that has failed.

Re: Disk failure on raid 5 array

In model30, every slot in the array has its slot number, for example A1,A2,B1...
If disk drive failed, syslog would be like this.

===============================
High Availability array monitor

Unit Shutdown : A1
...................
...................
Refer to users guide and you can see where A1,A2,B1... is located in the array.
