E500 Support for disks on both ports in one array/lun

Hello.

I've been looking for but can not find an answer.
Assuming a suitable server.
An E500 SA card, with cache upgrade
2 x MSA50 enclosures one to each E500 port.
4 HDDs in each enclosure.

Can I configure a single LUN of the 8 HDDs.
Any RAID, pref 1+0.

Thanks in Advance.
Trevor.

Hello,

an array can't be spanned over two controllers. But you can build two four drive RAID 1+0 and stripe them under your OS.

By two controllers do you mean the two ports on an E500?
An E500 has 2 ports, one for each MSA50.

Re: E500 Support for disks on both ports in one array/lun

Hello Trevor,

surely you can span an array over both controller ports, but not over two controllers. So if you attach two MSAs to one controller, you can span an array over both connected MSAs.

Thanks.

However, you could not do this on the Compaq SA6404.

The HP 4m Would do this.
Hence the question.
How confident are you of a "Yes"?

Re: E500 Support for disks on both ports in one array/lun

Due to the support for Dual Domain support I'm assuming it is supported on the E500 as in the P800.
It is my understanding that the P400 can not do this and it also does not support Dual Domain.
I'll leave this open for a day or two if someone from who has done this can respond.

I don't have the HW lying around to test.

Thanks.
Trevor.

Hello,

P400 doesn't support dual domain. According to the E500 quickspecs it does support dual domain.
