EMC Symetrix 3700 /opt/symmapps ???

I got software under /opt/symmapps/*. I do not know how to run GUI on symmapps. Do they have any document for me to learn? I want to check how much capacity left on this EMC disk subsystem.

Re: EMC Symetrix 3700 /opt/symmapps ???

HI
You can try emc.com site to get information/documentation.
http://www.emc.com/products/product_pdfs/pdg/emc_controlctr_pdg.pdf

If you have software in /opt/symm.., I guess it's older version of symmmanager.
Use inq utility (/opt/symmapi/bin dir I guess) to get list of luns assigned to your host. That will not tell you weather they are part of any active VGs.

You can install EMC controle Center(4.x) which has winnt components to monitor and generate reports of disk utilization.

Thanks.

Re: EMC Symetrix 3700 /opt/symmapps ???

Yes, /opt/symmapps is an older directory for older versions of EMC software but you should find what you need to run the GUI.
Under this dir look for a binary called symmConsole. It should be under a bin subdirectory. Export your display then run it. You should get a small window up. Right click on the EMC icon and select the option to Select a Gatekeeper. You must now select a /dev/dsk/cxxxx device which is a gatekeeper - usual size from diskinfo will be only a few megabytes. You should have a LIST button to list all EMC devices and from it pick a gatekeeper.

Now you can right click on the EMC icon again and select Start Poller, Then you can select Launch SM-GUI. This will allow you to interrogate your EMC and determine how much space is left. Good luck.
