EVA 3000 Big Problem

Dear TEam,

i am using a WINdows 2003 Server as a MAn App,

and Both of controllers are connected to tw0 SAN switches , the customers need redandance ,

the commande viw installed is VErsion 8.0. i tried with version 6,0 but same Problem,

Re: EVA 3000 Big Problem

Hi,

It sounds like you haven't got things cabled properly, or that there's some zoning on the SAN switches that's preventing the management server from seeing the controllers.

Can you explain how things are cabled ?

Cheers,

Rob

Re: EVA 3000 Big Problem

Strange... What do you see on the front panel on the HSV controllers ?

What version of VCS are you running ?

Cheers,

Re: EVA 3000 Big Problem

i can see on the OCP the WWN of the controllers and also the message : No Storage Name :

the version of the HSV is 3.028

the battery is always led in RED, since a long time , since 4 days

Re: EVA 3000 Big Problem

If all the batteries are failed, then you won't see any storage...

You need to get them replaced.

Re: EVA 3000 Big Problem

Even with all 4 controller batteries failed, there would be access from Command View (although not from the hosts).
Command View sees an "Uninitialized storage system", so there's connection to the EVA.
Press Control-F5 so Command View refreshes the page.
Try to disconnect the EVA and start Command View, see if it starts and says that there are no EVAs on sight. Then connect the EVA and click discover.

Re: EVA 3000 Big Problem

With firmware 3.xxx you should connect controller A FP1 and Controller B FP2 to one SAN switch, and Controller B FP1 and controller A FP2 to the other switch.

You can check that you have it right by the WWN:

o Controller A, FP1 pWWN ends with a ├в 9├в .
o Controller A, FP2 pWWN ends with a ├в 8├в .
o Controller B, FP1 pWWN ends with a ├в D├в .
o Controller B, FP2 pWWN ends with a ├в C├в .

Command View only talks to master controller, you should have the zoning correctly setup, so that the server with Command View sees that controller at least.
