EVA 3000 HP-UX 11.i v1 without secure path

Does anyone know if it is possible to use an EVA3000 with HP-UX 11.i v1 with dual fiberchannel connection without secure path but just like the VA7x00 with alternate path and if so is it supported by HP

No.. you cannot do without SecurePath if using dual HBAs. This is for the very reason thet PVLINKS/Alternate Path does not support dual presentation of a LUN from an EVA.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong - but Single HBA's I think are supported.. so you can present a LUN to a single HBA and use the LUN(s) as is - but I cannot remember if this is for both Windows and UNIX.

The NewGen EVA (coming this year?) is rumoured to do away with SecurePath. PVLINKS and even heard VxVM DMP will be fuly supported.

Yes, single path is supported for HP-UX and most other operating systems.

If you have 2 HBA is necessary install secure path.

One way will be configuring a zone using only a single port for HBA and For the controller, I mean when you configure the zone only use a single port for HBA and one for the HSV controller, but is not recommended for high available systems , no redundance .
