EVA 4000/4100 firmware upgrade

I haven't done one of these in a while.

I am going from 6.110 to 6.220.

Do the controllers reboot together? or do they go one at a time minimizing downtime?

I.E. do I absolutely have to shutdown all access from my hosts, or can I upgrade with everyhting live?

Re: EVA 4000/4100 firmware upgrade

Hi,
you should check all the appropriate OS platforms HBA driver/firmware/bios/disk io timeout (for online firmware upgrade it is 60s), multipathing version compatibility to EVA XCS 6220:

HP StorageWorks 4x00/6x00/8x00 Enterprise
Virtual Array updating product software guide
(XCS 6.220)
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01721447/c01721447.pdf

Abstract:
An online upgrade does not require you to halt I/O or shut down the servers accessing the storage
system. After gathering information on your configuration as outlined in this guide and careful consideration of all relevant parameters, an online upgrade can be completed successfully.

An online EVA disk firmware upgrade should be commited afterwards:
