EVA 4400 Disk Enclosure Upgrade

Do anyone know why controller hangs when adding new disk enclosure to the EVA 4400. the EVA FW 0900100. I Opened one loop and added the enclosure and it is working fine and i can see the new encl and the new disks. Once i added the second loop the whole storage hangs. and hosts disconnected.

according to SPOCK it's supported if you use MSA A/A firmware and supported HBAs and switches.

It is an EVA 4400 and once the new disk enclosure added to the EVA which has 2 disk enclosures the cotroller hangs and became unavailable.

Have you checked the loop state before you opened it??

yes was ok.and when i opened one loop and connect the new encl it is ok too.
once i connect the sec ond loop to the new encl ... the EVA becomes unavailable. this is the issue

XCS 09001000 is quite old and a number of improvements have been made since the first release. As the support for this version has been set to 'inactive' on 31 January 2009, an upgrade is recommended.

and to add a disk enclosure i think it should go smoothas this eva could come with 2 or 3 or 4 disk encl . i think if we upgrade it from 2 disk encl to 4 disk encl it should go smooth.

If it has firmare 09001000 that means it's old, and that means that it could have the old cables, with a plastic tab on the connector. Those cables cause trouble on the controllers when disconnected.

Also, after adding the enclosures to one loop, was it working OK?
