These are the properties of our only one Disk Group:
Summary
Total:
4016 GB
Allocated:
3116 GB
Allocation level:
78 %
Available (estimated)
Get useful information on this field
Vraid0:
429 GB
Vraid1:
170 GB
Vraid5:
314 GB
Vraid6:
Not available
Total of 4016 GB minus 3116 allocated gives me an estimated of 900 available, how come vraid0 only shows 429GB available?
We used to have single protection, one of the drives (300GB one) failed and we replaced it by adding a new disk to an unused bay, groupped it and then removed the failed disk without ungrouping it because the ungroup option was unavailable at that time.
What could be causing such behavior?
FW version of both controllers is 09534000 build CR18CBlep-09534000, the disk group has a mix of 300/146GB FC drives.
this is a common EVA issue? space misscalculation? what would be the procedure to get this fixed?
P.D: I already rebooted the Command View and its still showing the space erroneously.

Solution
Hi,
Space miscalculation usually happens if there are any changes in the DG. Like drive failures.
It is common with many eva's and normally fixed by restarting the command view eva services and then relogin to the command vew eva.
If this doesnt work then a controller resync is required which can be done by rebooting the master controller in your case.
Regards,
Prakash

Re: EVA 4400 lost single protection need help
With the EVA single sparing means that twice the size of the largest disk in the disk group is reserved for rebuild. Since you could have all data in Raid1 and EVA does a kind of pairing of disks internally.
So actually you should have only 340 GB in Vraid0 which corresponds to your 170 GB in Vraid1. A 300GB disk is shown with about 280GB size, so 900 - 2x280 = 340

Bernhard
