Re: EVA 5000 2C8D

EVA 5000 2C8D

I want to add a drive enclosure to an EVA5000 which is currently a 2C8D. What do I need to get this done? Do I need to add them in pairs.

Hi Erik,

Adding drive enclosures in pair is recommended(one on Loop 1 and other on 2) and also supported configuration.

Ensure that you have Device loop switch as well, if not already.

Re: EVA 5000 2C8D

Hi,
Agree with above about HP support adding drives shelves in pairs (1 per loop) and not single shelves for a 5000.
However, early EVA5000's could go up to a 2C18D with NO switches which was a supported config - unless of course they changed there mind...

Re: EVA 5000 2C8D

Thank you. I have confirmed that the loop switches are present, and that while recommended to add disk enclosures in pairs, cheap skates can add them one at a time. Thanks again.

A looong time ago. A number of V1.0 5000s have been upgraded in the field with loop switches for free (even 2C6Ds), because the systems did not run stable and there were lots of problems with I/O modules.
