EVA 6000 Wrong disk group size

Hi
I am just installing a new EVA6000.
I have two disk group.
The default disk group is form by 24 disk 300GB double protection alarm level 90%.

The problem that I see is that I only see available for the raid0 , raid 1 and raid 5 2047.99GB but the total capacity show 5585.93GB .

Before I have seen the problem I restart both controller , I dont know if that was the cause of the problem.

Also I have find this http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1015263

I will reboot tomorrow both controller to see if that solve my problem,
But if that does not work some body have other idea of my problem?

Can be this a license problem for example storage capacity?.

The second disk group 24 disk of 146GB is ok.

Thank you for answers.

William, I have already responded to that article ;-)
To repeat: it is only the max. size possible for the next virtual disk to be created.

Re: EVA 6000 Wrong disk group size

This is the maximum size off a LUN

1) Create an Lun of 2 TB
2) Create a 2nd Lun of 2 TB
3) Now you will see there is an available capacity of 1,5 TB

Re: EVA 6000 Wrong disk group size

I have not created any virtual disk, the used capacitity is 0.
My question is because I have also an EVA5000 with more than 8000GB in only one diskgroup and I have not get any problem,

You say that I must create a three disk group?

Re: EVA 6000 Wrong disk group size

No, you don't need to create 3 disk groups - this is only a display problem / misunderstanding of what CV-EVA shows.

Let my try to explain it in other words:
the disk group "default disk group" has a raw capacity of 5585 software gigabytes (SWGB). A single virtual disk cannot be larger than 2047SWGB.

Let's assume you create a virtual disk in VRAID-5 with a size of 2000SWTB. In that case the disk group's capacity is reduced by about 2000*1.25SWGB = 2500SWGB, which leaves a raw capacity of 3085SWB (5585SWGB - 2500SWGB).

CV-EVA should then display:
VRAID-0: 2047 GB [3085 > 2047]
VRAID-1: about 1542 GB [3085/2 = 1542]
VRAID-5: 2047 GB [(3085/1.25)= 2468 > 2047]

You could now create another virtual disk , this time in VRAID-1, with a size of 1535SWTB .
