Hi,
I am thnking of upgrading our VCS 3.110 to VCS 4.x.x in order to get Container support.
These are the questions i have:
1. What is the last stable version on VCS 4.x.x?
2. Why does the upgrade take 8 hours
3. Does powerpath (EMC) work with VCS 4.x.x as active active?
4. Can CA replication work between a VCS 3.110 and 4.x.x?
Thanks

>>> 2. Why does the upgrade take 8 hours
We did some EVA upgrades an none take more than 2 hours, even if multiple upgrades are required.

Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Solution
1. What is the last stable version on VCS 4.x.x?
4.100. Announcenment here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c01272397
2. Why does the upgrade take 8 hours
It does not. The firmware upgrade takes less than one hour, including the controllers reboot, disk firmware and EMU firmware upgrade.
Another thing is updating HBAs, switches and drivers on the servers, that can take days and must be done before updating the EVA.
Upgrading to VCS 4.100 from VCS 3.110 or earlier must be done offline (all host I/O halted).
3. Does powerpath (EMC) work with VCS 4.x.x as active active?
The multipathing software depends on the OS, but that's a EMC software and not supported by HP
4. Can CA replication work between a VCS 3.110 and 4.x.x?
Yes, but the performance of the replication will be as if both EVAs had VCS 3.110 (least common denominator)
