EVA4400 fw upgrade with working vmware

Hello
I need to upgrade 2xEVA4400 from 9522000 to 9534000. Both EVAs are used as a datastore to VMware 4.0 and as a boot from SAN disk to 6 ESX hosts.
Is it possible to upgrade fw on-line? Will hosts and VM's survive the time of controller resync?
There are only 45 HDD each but even 40s sound as a very long time for VMware and hosts (i.e. swap file).

Do you have CA set up between the 2 EVA's? or just 2 stand alone arrays?

Upgrade guide : http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02491141/c02491141.pdf

gives detailed informations to consider under various environments. If time outs are managed properly on each VM and the host , it should not be a problem.

Only 2 EVAs without CA. But on VMware site I've found its not recommended to do it online

Hi,
YOU need to read ALL the relevent installation guide release notes etc and then decide if it is possible / recommended etc for YOUR circumstances to do an online upgrade.
If in doubt, I would suggest that you schedule downtime. The code load should only take a few mins to perform and check all OK afterwards.
