One of the cache batteries in our second controller is Low and I have a new battery on the way.
Do I just switch the battery out with the Controller running or do I need to power cycle it at any point?

Re: EVA5000 - Cache Battery replacement procedure
You must swap the battery with the controller running.
If you do it with the power removed, the new battery will pick up the bad status of the old battery, rendering it useless.
Cheers,
Rob

SolutionCheck out this HP website, it is very good for showing little video clips and txt of "how too...".
Just drill down the storage till you get to eva5000:
http://h20181.www2.hp.com/plmcontent/NACSC/SML/
also very good for all sorts of HP products.
It's amazing how few people seem to know about this...

Not really, as the logical place to link to it would be from the Manuals section of the support site...
I couldn't even find the PDF document, which I know exists, for the battery replacement procedure earlier... HP's support website has gone seriously downhill recently !!
Cheers,
Rob

Re: EVA5000 - Cache Battery replacement procedure
There was a little howto booklet that came with the batteries. Basically it's: pull both batteries out and replace at the same time. Once done power cycle the controller.
Great link, Mark.

Re: EVA5000 - Cache Battery replacement procedure
* Ensure controller is powered on
* Remove failed battery (if both have failed then remove both before inserting the new batteries)
* Insert new battery(s)
* Power cycle controller
