EVA5000: Dynamically growing of a virtual disk for Linux

Hi,

we have a EVA5000 and want to increase the size of a virtual disk, which is the system disk of a Linux Server.

HP says that Linux does not support dynamically growing of a virtual disk but i cannot believe this :-(

Does someone know a redhat tool by which i can let grow a linux disk dynamically?

Thanks a lot for help,
best regards
Edi

Re: EVA5000: Dynamically growing of a virtual disk for Linux

Hm, there are several layers involved.

- the EVA virtual disk - hey, that's easy

- make Linux recognize a larger LUN - a reboot should fix this

- the partition table - can be altered

- are you using LVM? - from what I've heard you're out of luck with LVM1.
-- I haven't kept track - is there an LVM2 already?

- you should be able to resize the file system after the partition / LV has been enlarged

I haven't tried it myself, yet. There is so much other things to do :-(
It should be possible if you are willing to work on all these layes, but I don't think you will find a single utility for all this.
