EVA5000:HP-UX Configuration

i want to connect EVA5000 with rp7410 running HP-UX11i with 2FCHBAs installed. i have configured EVA on the storage side and now i want to configure it on host(HP-UX11i). Can anyone suugest any document detailing this procedure including the procedure to check that the configured Vdisk is accessible at the host side.

Re: EVA5000:HP-UX Configuration

I am more concerned to HP-Ux11i as my requirement is connecting the EVA with rp7420 running HP-UX11i. If someone can suggest the document detail the EVA Vdisk configguration on the Host rp7420 running HP-UX11i. this will help me to better understand and paln the vdisk configuration on OE side.

Re: EVA5000:HP-UX Configuration

Hi,

try the platform kit for HP-UX installation guide:
http://h200001.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/UCR/SupportManual/TPM_aa-ruhkb-te/TPM_aa-ruhkb-te.pdf

It has a step by step guide to configuring Vdisks for HP-UX. You might also want the user manuals for SecurePath 3.0D for HP-UX

Do you have SecurePath? You really need it.

Re: EVA5000:HP-UX Configuration

Yes i do have secure path 3.0C.
i need some clarification regarding the attached file stating the vdisk configuration. I am attaching EVA5000 with rp7410 server running HP-UX11i and 2 6795A FCHBAs are installed.i have configured 400GB Vdisk at EVA side that i want to present to Host(rp7410).i want to create just 1 volume of 400GB size. Want to ask can i create volume size of 400GB?
Now according to the attached the procedure that have been mentioned in this document is a bit confusing. The commands specified for the volume group and logical volume creation are might have been interchanged. Please check the attached file and do clarify if i am wrong.Similary if i want to create 400GB logical volume then i will have to specify -L 409600 with the vgcreate command.what is the limitation of logical volume size in MB in HP-UX11i?
Do we really need to install storage system scripting utility or is this an optional utility?

Re: EVA5000:HP-UX Configuration

Sorry, I don't see an attachment.

You need SSSU, because this is the only way to capture the current configuration. Else, if the EVA has a catastrophic failure you have to set up the system again manually. You should capture your configuration whenever you have made a change to the EVA. Remember not to store that data on the EVA itself.

I think you have received a lot of useful help through ITRC, but you have a lot of unrated threads:
